In our commitment to ensure a greener tomorrow, Xiaomi is offering an e-waste take-back & recycling service that adheres to the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India. To act responsibly towards the environment, we have pledged to recycle electronic items, such as mobiles, power banks, speakers, headphones, fans, and other electronic and electrical products as per the rules that are intended to be discarded as waste by the consumer. When an electronic product reaches the end of its life, we take it back and recycle it. All Xiaomi products are RoHS compliant. The objective of Xiaomi’s endeavour with the Recyclers is to create an efficient, transparent, scaled operational system which will make responsible management of e-waste across the country a norm.

Electronics appliances such as mobile phones, computers, laptops, printers, speakers or even their parts which are discarded and have reached the end of their useful life are called "E-waste"

RoHS Declaration
As part of restricting harmful substances from our products, all Xiaomi products are in the conformity with the strict requirements of Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment of the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, also known as the RoHS Directive. Link will be added for RoHS Declaration
Examples of materials restricted by RoHS include lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and the brominated flame retardants (BFRs) PBB and PBDE.
Dos & Don'ts
- Dispose your e-waste only with responsible PROs/ Producer Take Back channels
- Don’t sell your e-waste to the informal sector
- Make sure that all your important personal and professional data you wish to keep is backed-up and removed from your device, preferably opt for factory data reset of your mobile phones and other device before disposal.
- Remember to remove your SIM and memory cards before dropping your phone into a collection point. Batteries, chargers and other accessories can also be recycled at these points
- Do not mix these products in your home dust-bins with other municipal waste.

- HOW DOES THE TAKE BACK PROGRAM WORK?
Simply fill out e-waste recycling form after logging into your Mi Account. Our Authorised e-waste recycler will contact you to pick up e-waste from your location.
- WHAT CAN I RECYCLE?
Under E-Waste Management & Handling Rules 2022, we will accept and recycle all mobile phones, chargers, speakers, headphones, and other electronic products sold in India, irrespective of their brand. It is advisable that you secure and erase all the data in your electronic devices before depositing them with us. Notwithstanding anything contained herein Mi India, its Affiliates’ or its agents and representatives are not responsible for the breach or loss of any of your data.
- DO I HAVE TO PAY TO GET MY ELECTRONICS RECYCLED?
Consumers do not have to pay any fee to recycle products sold in India.
- WILL I GET ANY MONETARY BENEFIT/DISCOUNT BY GIVING BACK THE UNUSED PRODUCTS IN THIS TAKEBACK AND RECYCLING PROGRAM?
A discount coupon worth ₹100 for every pickup request will be added to your registered Mi account once your phone(s) is successfully picked up. Coupon will be applicable on minimum purchase value of ₹ 1000 only on accessories. Please note that coupons will only be given to customers who provide complete phone units only, not spare parts or other products. Customers will get coupons within 14 days of the pickup date. Mi India shall reserve the right to issue or reject the coupons at its sole discretion.
- HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COLLECT MY PRODUCTS?
Mi India’s authorized recycler will contact you within 2 working days. Products will be collected within 15 days of raising the pickup request. Collection time will vary depending on your area of pickup

Plastic products have become an integral part in our daily life as a basic need. India is generating around 3.5 million tons of plastic waste anually. Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC) has formulated and notified Plastic Waste Management Rules 2022 (Amendment). Xiaomi is complied and commited to reduce the use of plastic by working as per the guidelines given by MoEF & CC and CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board)
What is plastic waste?
Any plastic object like boxes, bottles, packaging materials, bags, etc. When impropelry disposed in the environmment is called Plastic Waste, which adversely affects both wildlife and environment.
Categories of Plastic
- Category 1
Rigid Plastic Packaging such as food containers which are not flexible
- Category 2
Flexible plastic packaging of single layer or multilayer (more than one layer with different types of plastic), plastic sheets or like and covers made of plastic sheet, carry bags, plastic sachet or pouches.
- Category 3
Multilayered plastic packaging (at least one layer of plastic and at least one layer of material other than plastic).
- Category 4
Plastic sheet or like used for packaging as well as carry bags made of compostable plastics.
